1/6 club chair

Inspired by the awesome recycled crafts over at http://myfroggystuff.blogspot.com/, I tried to make my folks a club-type chair.  Turned out pretty well, even though I don't like the legs and in the flash you can really see the tape edges.  My 6 year old has claimed it anyway, so I'll get to try again:D  Sitting in it is one of my Barblgangers, (or maybe Dollelgangers?  I haven't decided what to call them).  Basically I'm restyling dolls to look like people in my life.  This one is styled to look like one of my oldest friends, Laura.  The sneakers were the best find (she's a flat-foot) and i'm particularly proud of the glasses.

  1. I have been thinking about making a chair for the My Froggy Stuff blog too. I thought about cutting the bottom off the sticks to make them flat. I do like the idea of a club chair.

  2. You could try it with dowels, too.

  3. I'm working (slowly) on my dopplegangers, too! I think this seems awesome and obvious enough to not be rare. :-) Haven't come up with a name like you're trying, though. Didn't think I needed it, but maybe we do!

I think my boyfriend thinks that is the strangest part of all this. A couple of days ago I discovered my best platonic guy friend can be made from Jack Sparrow when someone else had him in a wardrobe change and out of his eyeliner--and possibly extra beard thing, not sure (and I have humorous-to-me plans for his outfit) and actually JS's accessories are SO this IRL dude (sword, shrunken head)! Anyway, I got excited and showed him to my honey, and I know he thought I was nuts. I might keep the doppelgangers a secret from most people I know, but I'm considering maybe a FEW duplicates to gift just some people, especially(?) if they'd like their kids to have a "mommy(/daddy)" to look up to instead of a bimbo.

  4. I have one friend who loves the idea of her doppelganger--I pose it around the house and send her pictures (although I didn't tell her it was designed to look like her--just told her it "accidentally" ended up looking like her). My other friends would think it's weird. So I secretly have doppelgangers of them. Shhh.
